LAST WORKING DAY!

Greetings Aquanauts!

NO MORE DAILY LOGS NEEDED! ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PUT A PICTURE OF YOUR TEAM WITH YOUR FINISHED ROV ON YOUR TEAM LEAD'S PAGE!

You made it to the end! By the end of today you should have a WORKING ROV. This means

1. Control box is connected to the waterproofed tether and motors
2. Motors are mounted to the frame
3. Buoyancy is adjusted and any/all tools attached
4. You have picked a place for the camera to sit (come to me and I will give you a piece of velcro for it

After G period tomorrow all major tools will no longer be available for use. If you need more time, work with your team, I am willing to stay 5/22 (Monday) after school and you can come to tutorial (5/23).

Please note that failure to have a working ROV means you did not complete the largest component of your final exam. Make sure you work as a TEAM to meet this final and very important deadline.

Day 9 - Let's get ready for the pool

5/19 - F and G

Happy Friday Aquanauts!

IMPORTANT:

Control Box Folks: You really shouldn't leave here today until your control box works! Please come to me for help when you get to the parts to test if it works...we may skip some stuff from the slides!

Motor Folks: You really shouldn't leave here today until your motors are water proofed and attached to your frame! You will now begin working with the frame folks to calculate buoyancy and plan/buy/test any manipulator tools

Frame Folks: You really shouldn't leave here today until you have a frame built, tested it with motors (I have a set you can try out at the pool) and  attached tether management cross attached, AND attached your buoyancy (WHICH WE WILL CALCULATE TODAY AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS), and figured out where your camera is going. If you have this done, start or continue thinking about how you will complete each task. I have manipulator tools for sale and for you to try out!

I AM WILLING TO STAY AFTERSCHOOL TODAY TO GIVE YOU A CHANCE TO GET THIS DONE. TAKE ADVANTAGE!

Day 8 - CRUNCH TIME

F-5/17
G-5/18

Alright aquanauts. This is crunch time. You REALLY need a working ROV by the end of Friday. Some teams should really consider coming to tutorial or coming during an F/G prep to finish their part (especially motors and especially especially CONTROL BOX). I am also willing to stay after school Friday if folks let me know ahead of time.

Next week should be fine tuning buoyancy, adding any manipulator tools, and figuring out where to mount your camera (hopefully frame folks are already thinking about this!).

So, in short....3 days to go!!!!!!!

Day 7-Where you should be

F- 5/15
G-5/16

Greetings Aquanauts! Here is a guide as to where you should be today. If you are not here yet, consider coming in during flex, tutorial, or coming during F/G if you have prep. I am also open to after school if you make an appointment. Remember...next week you get one day and then we are at the big pool!

Frame folks-Should have a frame design by now. Come with a materials list and you can get pipe/fittings from the store. I even have a spare set of motors/controlers so you can try out your design at the small pool today (10 min per team if there is a wait list!)

Motor folks-Should be about done adding propellers. Today will be all about waterproofing. Invite me over if you want some pointers...waterproofing is not hard but can be tricky if you use too much solder and hot glue! Remember...LESS IS MORE!

Control box folks-Should be done with the practice board and be soldering the actual control box.

Everyone using soldering irons today: Read directions and do all prep AWAY from irons so they can be used by someone else in the meantime.

Happy building!

Day 5 Simply some reminders

Day 5

F-5/10
G-5/11

Some reminders and you are set to go:

1. Each person on your team should be assigned a part to work on (Frame, Motors/propulsion, control box). Details about this can be found on Day 3's update from me.
2. Watch safety/training videos and go do practice tasks for ONLY the part you are assigned to.
3. If you were absent on 5/5 or any day after (or if you leave class early for an appointment), you should follow the directions on the tab "What to do if you were absent"
4. 3 tardies results in a make up day. I will notify you when you hit your 3rd tardy.  Walking in even 10 seconds after the bell is considered a tardy!
5. Things to fix in team blogs (read only if it applies to your team):

F period  (if your blog isn't on this list, you are good to go!)

Fish fools: Home page should have team lead's daily update. Directions can be found here on how to do that

Willpower Whales: Overall Looks good! On your daily logs, don't worry about writing "Day 1" or "Day 2" give me the DATE the blog was written (specifically talking to HG and CO)

Shark Boiz: NA, DP, RS have incomplete daily logs. Remember...you need one per day per person starting from last Friday. Directions can be found here on what to include

Under Pressure: PL has a missing daily log. Otherwise looks good

Aquapodes: You have one team lead update but are missing one for the second day. HA is missing a daily log. Remember...you need one per day per person starting from last Friday. Directions can be found here on what to include

G Period (if your blog isn't on this list, you are good to go!)

Cuttlefish: JA, you are missing one daily log. Remember...you need one per day per person starting from last Friday. Directions can be found here on what to include

Aqualads: Your 2 tabs (about us and what's an ROV) still don't have relevant images. Team Lead needs to do a post on home page everyday. if they are absent, someone else should do it instead. ST and SJ, you both need to do all daily logs (yes...even for the days you are absent!). NG you are  missing a daily log from Friday (yes...even on the days you are absent!). I have included a link to directions on what to do when you are absent here

Kraken Me Up: Your 2 tabs (about us and what's an ROV) still don't have relevant images. On your daily logs, don't worry about writing "Day 1" or "Day 2" give me the DATE the blog was written (specifically talking to KB and EA)

Ray To Go: Your what's an ROV tab does not include relevant images. Also, you are mixing up individual daily logs with the Team lead daily post. ONLY thing that should show up on home page is team lead post. Directions can be found here on how to do that. Each individual daily log should ONLY show up on your individual tab. Remember...you need one per day per person starting from last Friday. Directions can be found here on what to include. At this point, each person should have TWO daily logs. All of you are missing a log from Friday (first day of keeping the logs).

Day 4! Work Work Work Work Work

5/8 -F
5/9 -G

Greetings Aquanauts!

Most of you are ready to being working with tools today (assuming you brought the right shoes!). Make sure you read/watch the training and safety videos. I WILL ASK YOU TO EXPLAIN SAFTEY INFO BEFORE GIVING YOU ACCESS TO THE TOOLS. Remember, safety is my #1 priority!

Also, so far, one group has successfully done individual and team lead blog posts. Way to go team Shark BAIT! Please look at their blog and make sure you match the formatting. Blog guru's you should not go on to tool stuff until you fix up the blog!

That's all I have for you today. Please keep the last 10 minutes of class open for announcements, writing your daily blog post, and for helping clean up.

Cheers!

Mrs. S
